Question

Child turns 18 in few years. Other parent came into some money and wants to pay off future child support obligation. There have been many enforcement hearings, so getting a lump sum payment sounds like a good idea. Am I missing something?

Answer

If money is being offered to you then take it. You should have your agreement reduced to writing.

Use of a lawyer is recommended.

Answer

Talk to a local lawyer and have any paperwork reviewed. Some Judges will not allow payment of future obligations.
