Question

I owe back taxes to the IRS. I am getting married soon and I am concerned the IRS may come after my future husbands assets to pay for my tax debt. His assets are only in his name, we do not own any joint property or assets. I understand if we file Married filing jointly and we end up with a refund we can file an Injured Spouse Form. Any advice is this matter will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Answer

You need to talk to a tax specialist which I am not. The easiest way to avoid having your tax return taken up is to not have one in the first place and that's done by adjusting your withholding
