I'm not sure what you have. The word "Liberty" appears on the Sacagawea 'golden' dollar. If that is what you have, it's brass, not gold, and is worth $1. About a billion were made so feel free to spend it.
A nice uncirculated one can be purchased from any coin dealer for about $1.50.
If you have a large (40 mm) silver coin it's a bullion piece sold to collectors and investors; it's not for spending. Its value changes with the price of silver. As of 02/2010 it sells for about $17.
