Will canon buy ikon office solutions?
It is very likely Canon will eventually buy Ikon Office Solutions. Canon has maintained that they are more focused on Product Development rather than increasing distribution. However , the landscape has recently changed whereas Ikon now remains the last big independent provider of office solutions. They represent 35% of Canon's North American revenue and 30% of Ricoh's. The other dynamic is HP has lost their service distribution for their Edgeline product when Danka was acquired by Konica Minolta in April '08. Most Edgeline devices are maketed by a large VAR channel but HP relied on Danka for service. This is now a problem . HP buying Ikon would be an amazing fit. So, Canon's motivation may have changed because the game has changed. The only reason they would buy Ikon would be so noone else does!!!!
