Don't know what kind of technology problem you're looking for but one I experienced recently... How about the Capacitor Plague? In the late 90's to the early 2000's millions of systems and electronics were distributed to consumers. Bad capacitors from China resulted in a shortened life span for these products. I had to crack open my LCD TV and replace the Caps with good ones. $3 worth of parts fixed my $1200 TV.
