How do you keep track of your warranties?

How do you keep track of your warranties?
There are a few options.
1. Filed in alpha/date order
2. Entered on to a spreadsheet with commencement date, name of the item under cover, cost and any renewal date
3. Create a database for this with all the details set up as in 2 but with a report that can be run monthly if required to identify anything in the next x weeks that comes to an end or requires renewal.
